Shimen Reservoir

Shimen Reservoir is the biggest reservoir among far eastern countries. The scenery of the lake and mountains surrounding it is poetic and spectacular all year round. It is also a good place to go on holidays. Shimen Reservoir is connected to more than ten outside tourist sites. There are bicycles tracks and lake cruises.

Daxi Old Stree

In the old days, the Tamsui River was navigable all the way inland to Daxi. The dock was where the old Heping Road runs today, and from Ching Dynasty times this has been the town's business commercial area. In addition to the traditional wooden furniture shops, on the Old Street today you can still see the old professions: the making of Daxi's famous dried bean curd, iron mongering, and stone working. The street was formed during the period of Japanese occupation (1895-1945.) The shops are faced in Japanese baroque style with washed stone and are beautifully decorated with intricate carvings of birds, animals, flowers, and plants. The name of the establishment is written above the entrance.

Daxi Tea Factory

Visiting Daxi Tea Factory is like beginning a leisurely journey of “Tea Time”. Daxi Tea Factory was formerly Jiaoban Mountain Factory, a tea factory built by the Japanese in 1926, which marked the glorious history of Daxi tea manufacturing. It was considered an “upstart tea” at that time. However, a fire in 1956 almost destroyed the entire tea factory. In 2010, Taiwan Tea Corporation began the reconstruction of the factory, bringing back to the public the elegance of the tea culture by incorporating new into the old after half a century.
