It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 19th International Symposium on Iron Nutrition and Interactions in Plants (ISINIP), to be held from July 9 to 13, 2018 at the Academia Sinica campus in Taipei, Taiwan.
The ISINIP is a well-established biannual meeting that has been running successfully since 1981, hosting an average of about 150 scientists from more than 20 countries. The symposium covers a broad range of interdisciplinary topics related to plant iron nutrition, including but not limited to soil processes, biofortification, iron transport, signaling, and molecular processes regulating the cellular homeostasis of iron.
After being held in Tokyo (hosted by Satoshi Mori) and Beijing (hosted by Hong-Qing Ling), the symposium comes back to Asia for its 19th edition, this time to the vibrant city of Taipei. We hope that our international team of local organizers can convey some of the peculiarities of the specific environment that Taiwan offers to the symposium. Since the means to do this are limited, we encourage you to extend your stay and explore the city of Taipei and other parts of this beautiful island on your own, we will try our best to help with travel arrangements.
Personally, I have been participating in the ISINIP symposia series since its 6th edition. I have thoroughly enjoyed attending these meetings and to get to know this active, friendly, open minded, and collaborative community. It is overdue to pay back my debt for the excellent organization of all the ISINIPS I have attended, and I am enthusiastically looking forward to having you all here in Taipei.
Research into iron nutrition has made huge leaps forward and we expect exciting scientific, cultural and social events. I would be delighted if you were able to accept our invitation.
